We are currently recruiting for the position of Programme Manager to join our Project Management Office (PMO) department in our Northampton office. The PMO is a function within a wider Technical Services Directorate that spans multiple counties in the South-East of England and London. The successful candidate will be expected to work collaboratively within NEL’s matrix structure across a number of different ICT disciplines as well as non-technical departments. Whilst the permanent base is within our Northampton office travel to London and other areas of NEL’s catchment area is expected; travel expenses will be catered for.

The role will comprises of a both a leadership role and a technical delivery role. As a line manager of project managers it will be the responsibility of the successful candidate to carry out typical personnel management tasks including but limited to; carrying out 1-to-1’s, assessing performance, setting objectives and creating personal development plans. Furthermore the Programme Manager role would be expected to deliver large projects for the CSU as well as owning the portfolio of ICT projects for the Northampton area. Additionally the Programme Manager will be responsible for ensuring all projects are delivered to the PMO standards and quality checks.

ICT is a particularly fast-paced sector with a significant amount of constant change. Coupled with the frequent organisational change within the public sector it is essential that NEL teams are able to adapt quickly to the changing landscape both in terms of technological change and organisational changes with NEL’s customers. Being customer-centric and aligning the NEL strategy to fit with customer requirements is essential.

The successful applicant will lead on the strategic and operational development of an organisational culture that is customer-centric, open, trusting, transparent, and inclusive.
