Barnet Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is an ambitious and successful clinical commissioning group (CCG). We are a membership organisation made up of 58 GP practices serving a registered patient population of around 370,000. Our role is to ensure that residents and those registered with GPs in Barnet have access to the healthcare services they need.

Barnet CCG is passionate about serving its local people. We aim to commission high quality, affordable local services to reduce health inequalities and improve outcomes for our population.

Our vision is to work together with the Barnet population to improve health and wellbeing.

Please note that all vacancies will be subject to a 6 month’s probation period in line with the CCG Probation Policy.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced GP with an interest in cancer to help improve the lives of people affected by cancer in Barnet.

The applicant should be an experienced GP working within primary care within North Central London.

The Macmillan – Cancer GP in Barnet will provide support for, and drive new strategies locally to:

  • Work closely with and report to the CCG/NCL Board Lead for Cancer to further the cancer agenda in Barnet. The Macmillan GP will build capacity to influence local commissioning decisions for cancer through an active role in clinical championship for the cancer agenda with local GP practices, primary care networks (PCNs) and the Barnet GP federation. The post holder will work closely with the CCG, primary care and cancer teams to develop primary care initiatives to support our CCG priorities for cancer across Barnet practices.

  • You will develop and agree a plan for reaching out to all Barnet practices to network widely with local GP peers and primary care teams raising the profile of cancer in primary care and encouraging / facilitating uptake of Macmillan tools and models of good practice.

  • You will actively engage and gain support from Macmillan’s UK-wide primary care community of GP leaders in cancer care and link with NCL cancer leads as a source of knowledge and sharing of good practice, ensuring the learning is applied locally.

  • You will input to existing educational programmes, with particular emphasis on primary care delivery and liaise closely with CPEN and stakeholders to promote cancer education in our local GP community, and work with the CCG lead for practice nursing to promote the cancer agenda among Barnet practice nurses.

Macmillan posts are well supported by the Macmillan clinical network and bring with them a funded role plus access to Macmillan learning sets and the opportunity of educational grants.
