Our role is to ensure that residents and those registered with GPs in Barnet have access to the healthcare services they need.

Barnet CCG is passionate about serving its local people. We aim to commission high quality, affordable local services to reduce health inequalities and improve outcomes for our population.

Our vision is to work together with the Barnet population to improve health and wellbeing.

Please note that all vacancies will be subject to a 6 month’s probation period in line with the CCG Probation Policy.

This is an exciting opportunity for a GP with an interest in end of life care to help improve the lives of people affected by cancer and end of life in Barnet.

The Macmillan – EOL GP in Barnet will provide support for, and drive new strategies locally to:

  • Build capacity to influence local commissioning decisions for EOL through an active role in clinical championship for the EOL agenda with local GP practices and the Barnet GP federation. The post holder will work closely with the CCG primary care and cancer teams to develop EOL primary care initiatives across Barnet practices.
  • Develop a plan of reaching out to all Barnet practices to network widely with local GP peers and primary care teams raising the profile of EOL in primary care and encouraging / facilitating uptake of Macmillan tools and models of good practice.
  • Actively engage and gain support from Macmillan’s UK-wide primary care community of GP leaders in EOL care as a source of knowledge and sharing of good practice, ensuring learning is applied locally.
  • Provide input to existing educational programmes, with particular emphasis on primary care delivery and liaise closely with CPEN to promote EOL education in our local GP community. Work with the CCG lead for practice nursing to promote EOL among Barnet practice nurses.
